What is included in the exercise dataset?
The full dataset includes exercise names, body part categories, target muscles, secondary muscles, equipment, instructions, difficulty, categories, descriptions, 17 taxonomy fields, similar exercise links, substitutions, progressions, regressions, and exercise IDs that match the GIF files. The exact GIF sizes depend on the package you choose.
How many exercises are included?
The full dataset includes 1,394 exercise entries, giving you a broad foundation for a fitness app, workout platform, personal trainer tool, or educational project.
Does every exercise have a GIF?
Yes. Each exercise in the dataset has a matching animated GIF visual. The GIF file names are tied to the exercise IDs so you can pair the structured data and visuals inside your app.
Is ExerciseDB.io an API?
No. ExerciseDB.io is sold as downloadable data and media files, not a monthly API subscription. You buy the dataset once, download the files, and decide how to host or bundle them in your own product.
Can I host the JSON and GIFs on my own servers?
Yes. You can host the JSON and GIF files yourself, store them in your own database, serve them from your own CDN, or bundle them in your app. Your product does not have to depend on ExerciseDB.io at runtime.
Can I use the data and GIFs in a commercial app?
Yes. You can use the dataset commercially and display the exercise GIFs inside your app, platform, or product. You cannot resell, redistribute, or publish the raw dataset or GIF files as a standalone library or competing content package.
Can I use ExerciseDB.io in a non-commercial project?
Yes. You can use the dataset in non-commercial projects, educational tools, prototypes, internal software, or personal apps as long as you follow the license terms.
Can I modify the exercise data?
Yes. You may edit the exercise data to fit your product, including names, instructions, descriptions, grouping, categories, or muscle mappings. Many buyers adapt the structure before importing it into their own database.
Can I resell the dataset or GIF files?

Are there separate male and female GIFs?
The exercise visuals are generally male only. There are not separate male and female versions of each movement.
Why do some GIFs look less smooth?
The visuals are intentionally paced to demonstrate exercise form step by step rather than prioritizing smooth motion. The goal is to make the movement easier to understand inside fitness products.
Will I receive updates after purchase?
The download is provided as is at the time of purchase. Future updates are not included unless they are explicitly offered separately.
How will I receive my content after purchase?

Where can I find the license?

How long do I have to use the download link?
